September 11th 2001
On September 11th 2001, the world changed as a result of a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. The event may also have been significant from the perspective of the Book of Revelation. Coincidentally, the name ‘New York’ comes out at 666 on the numeric alphabet on which Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley’s names do likewise.
This may herald a major event in the history of mankind, especially for the Christian faithful, despite the involvement of Islamic fundamentalists. It is an event that changed perceptions about people’s safety. But mostly, it created a feeling that God is near, even when we think that He is far away.
Coincidentally, it was my thirty-sixth birthday on September 10th 2001. That night I went to a musical together with my cousin on the first night of performances at the new Millennium Forum theatre. The show, ‘Rent’, was based in New York at the time of rent strikes, and was basically a condemnation of American capitalism.
The very next day the world changed forever. New York coincidentally was attacked and the World Trade Center collapsed after two fully-occupied aircraft were slammed into its towers. Over 3,000 people were said to have perished.
The New York trauma has of course aroused my interest. I was deeply saddened by the loss of life, but it was an event of such magnitude that it may be significant.
For months, I contemplated the possibility that New York is coincidentally the ‘great city’, Babylon, of the Book of Revelation (Rev Ch 18). New York was certainly part of the English-speaking world.
“‘Woe! Woe, O great city,
O Babylon, city of power!
In one hour your doom has come!’” (Rev 18:10)
In one hour, on Tuesday 11th September 2001, New York was brought to its knees. Oddly enough, the beard became an issue in its aftermath in Afghanistan where the Taliban leaders, and Osama Bin Laden sympathisers, insisted on men growing beards. For the first time in my life I had been trying to grow a beard for a couple of months at that stage, but it was never thick enough – too many female hormones – and I had to make do with a goatee.
In a strange and subconscious sense therefore, I was coincidentally both in Afghanistan in the weeks before the attack and in New York on the night before the disaster due to my beard and the ‘Rent’ show respectively. At a later stage, I came to the conclusion that this choreography of my activities was inspired, and that this was indeed a message from the angels. September 11th is therefore significant in my mind as the fulfilment of a Book of Revelation prophecy.
If the prophesies of Book of Revelation are now being fulfilled, then it is proof that a supernatural dimension exists which is able to control our actions and words as human beings, and consequently the direction of our world.
If Northern Ireland has been chosen as a location for many of those prophesies, then it is control on a massive scale. The New Testament versus the Old Testament, Christianity versus capitalism, good versus evil, love versus hate, all being fought out in the most enduring European conflict of our time.
Northern Ireland is the man-made state created by Britain to ensure that the unionist community maintained its privileged majority position in a corner of Ireland. They chose the Biblically significant number, six, as the number of counties in Northern Ireland. That the man-made state has six counties is quite interesting.
Adam was created on the sixth day. The number of (Gerry) Adam-s links the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation, the first book of the Bible to the last book. It spans 6,000 years of history. It links the God of creation to the God of Revelation.
The mystery of the beginning is thus linked to the openness of the end times. God defines himself as: “The Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” (Rev 21:6). As God was there in the beginning, it may now be time for Him to show his face again.
At a time when the capitalists backing scientists are attempting to patent human genes, the root of man’s physical structure, God may be reminding us of our roots in Adam. As the genetic ‘code of life’ is deciphered, we may be being reminded that there is a two thousand year old code of life.
As global warming creates havoc with our climate and environment, partly due to our own bad stewardship of the planet, there may be no better time for us to be reminded of these things.
If the prophecies are being fulfilled, then we are at a very interesting time indeed. We may be at the pinnacle of evolution, where science and God meet, where capitalism meets Christ.
It may be a time when the Old Testament finally dies, and Christ takes his rightful place on the throne of mankind.
