My Name is John…
My story from knee high to sky
high
John is a 34-year-old manic-depressive. In John’s case manic highs
are often followed by mildly depressive lows. My Name is John… is a
journey through the denials and delusions of this mood disorder to
the point of its acceptance.
It is not an easy journey since John must deal with a mysterious
experience while a university student in Galway where he works out
the number of the names of two northern Irish politicians at 666,
and with strange coincidences in the middle of his first period of
illness in 1990 while he was working as a traineeaccountant in
Belfast.
In subsequent episodes of illness, John becomes ‘sky high’ in more
senses than one.
My Name is John… is startling in its honesty, and an intelligent,
comprehensive and often humorous insight into the devastating
effects of manic-depressive illness on one person’s life. |
